Dear Haitian youth,
You are the proud heirs of a remarkable history. In 1804, Haiti forever changed the world by becoming the first independent Black republic, a milestone that remains a wellspring of pride for the Haitian people. From this legacy of resilience and freedom, we draw our strength. True to our national motto “L’Union fait la force” – Unity is Strength – we know that by standing together we can overcome any obstacle. Whether you live in Port-au-Prince or Montreal, Cap-Haïtien or Miami, you are all part of one Haitian family, united by our heritage and aspirations.
Today, despite the hardships our beloved Haiti faces, hope persists. Our athletes at the Paris 2024 Olympics showed the world that, through determination and talent, Olympic dreams can become reality, bringing pride and inspiration to an entire country. As Haitian swimmer Alexandre Grand’Pierre said, representing Haiti on the world stage is about “showing that we are still capable of being on a world stage... to give a beacon of hope to the younger generations... that they can get to the Olympics as well.”. In other words, they proved that in spite of all the turmoil, Haitians can still shine globally and inspire the youth to believe in themselves. Now, it is time for the next generation to rise and carry that beacon forward.
We dream of seeing the Haitian flag held high at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, carried by you – the new generation of Haitian triathletes. In that spirit, we are issuing an official call to all Haitian athletes, at home and in the diaspora, who dare to dream of the Olympics. The Haiti Olympic Triathlon Program 2025–2028 is a bold initiative designed to turn your Olympic dreams into reality. Whether you are already a triathlete or a swimmer, cyclist, or runner ready to take on a new challenge, this program is for you. If you have the talent, drive, and passion to represent Haiti on the world’s greatest stage, then Haiti needs you!
Launched in 2025 by Haiti’s triathlon authorities and international experts, the Haiti Olympic Triathlon Program offers world-class coaching and support to those selected. Athletes in the program will be guided by experienced coaches (including Haitian diaspora coaches) who will provide individualized training plans and expert supervision, covering everything from physical conditioning and technique to nutrition and mental preparation. We are committed to equipping you with all the tools needed to reach peak performance.
Because of current challenges in Haiti, training will occur primarily remotely. No matter where you are based, you will train in your local environment with regular virtual guidance from our coaching staff. We will utilize online tools, video sessions, and feedback systems to monitor your progress closely. In-person training camps will be organized if and when conditions allow – potentially abroad or in Haiti if the security situation becomes safe. In the meantime, know that distance is not a barrier: through innovation and international collaboration, we will ensure you receive top-notch training wherever you reside.
The journey from now until 2028 will be structured in progressive stages. After an initial selection and orientation phase in 2025, athletes will enter a regimen of increasing competition exposure. You will start by competing in local and national events (organized either in Haiti or within Haitian communities abroad) to build your experience in triathlon race conditions. As you develop, the program will facilitate your entry into regional (Pan-American) competitions – for example, races on the PATCO (Americas Triathlon Confederation) circuit, Caribbean and Central American championships, or the Pan American Games. By 2027 and 2028, you will be aiming for international meets at the highest level (Triathlon World Cups and World Championships), gaining invaluable experience and earning ranking points. This step-by-step progression is designed with one goal in mind: securing your qualification for the 2028 Olympics. Through training and targeted competitions, we will work tirelessly to see Haitian triathletes rise into the world’s top rankings and punch their ticket to Los Angeles.
We are committed to forming a well-balanced Olympic team – equal parts female and male. The program actively encourages female athletes to join so that our Olympic triathlon delegation has strong representation of both women and men. Our aim is to qualify at least one woman and one man for the individual triathlon events at LA 2028. Furthermore, we are striving to assemble a mixed relay team (two women and two men) to compete in the exciting relay event now featured at the Olympics. Haiti’s motto “L’Union fait la force” reminds us that unity is strength – by combining the talents of an equal number of women and men, we will showcase the best of Haiti on the world stage, together.
Beyond 2028, this program is planting the seeds for a sustainable triathlon culture in Haiti. This is not just about one Olympics; it’s about building a lasting legacy. By identifying talent, training coaches, and increasing awareness of triathlon, we are establishing a foundation for Haiti’s continued presence in the sport for years to come. As one of our first generation of athletes, you will be pioneers of Haitian triathlon – blazing a trail that future young athletes will follow in the 2030s and beyond.
Join us on this Olympic journey and write your own chapter in Haiti’s history. Ansanm, nou kapab – together, we can do it!
